A traditional avocado smoothie takes only a few minutes in the blender. The glass is smooth and naturally rich from the fruit itself. Take as much of the flesh near the skin as possible.
The difficulty is choosing the avocado, since one that is not quite ripe tastes bitter and flat. The flesh sits with the sweetener for 20 to 30 minutes before blending. Blend for 30 seconds with the milk, then add ice and blend again until thick and smooth.
This batch weighs about 199g, at roughly 130 calories per 100g.
Method
Halve the avocado, remove the stone and the membrane clinging to the flesh.
Cut the avocado into small wedges and peel the skin back gently to take flesh in both the gold and green shades.
Scatter 18g of kOBE Monk Fruit Blend over the flesh and leave it for 20 to 30 minutes, which makes the smoothie richer and more fragrant.
Put the avocado with 31ml of unsweetened oat milk and 8g of kOBE Monk Fruit Blend in the blender jug and blend for about 30 seconds.
Add ice cubes and blend again until thick and smooth.
Pour into a glass and finish with a little avocado on top.
Tips
Take as much flesh near the skin as possible, but keep the skin itself out, as it turns the smoothie bitter.
Choose a ripe bo sap avocado that gives slightly under the thumb.
The milk mixture is quite thin, so 15 minutes in the fridge thickens the glass.
Blend the avocado with the milk first and add the ice after, since ice from the start splits the mixture.
kOBE Monk Fruit Blend has a light cooling finish, clearer in a cold drink than a warm one.
